How to Stay Inspired During These Times

One of the questions I’m asked most these days is, “How are you staying inspired and growing your business during these times?”

In my latest video “Raw & Real”, I answer these questions by sharing some of the things I learned after going through the previous recession, which resulted in bankruptcy, and coming back even stronger. My hope is that my experience can inspire you to do the same.

One of the most important things I share in this video is how I learned to go inward, so I could work on what I wanted to create outward. And step-by-step this process took me onward

This is a great time to go inward. And I know we hear this a lot these days (that this is a time for reflection, self-improvement etc.), but what exactly does it mean to “go inward” and how is it done?

Quite simply, to “go inward” means to center yourself. It means to take some time to reset and figure out what it is you truly want to bring to the world.

When I took time to go inward, I asked myself these questions:

Who am I?

What’s important to me?

What is the thing that I love to do?

What is the thing that brings me joy?

What am I really good at?

After that, I was ready to say yes to opportunities that brought me joy and peace, and eliminating what did not. And then I took the very next step, not knowing where the road would lead.

So, for you right now, I encourage you to go inward and center yourself. And you can start with these two simple exercises:

Journaling

Why Should You Journal?

Each day try writing down a question you would like an answer too, and then let your inward self write your response for you. Start with the question: “Who Am I?” and just write your response.

I’d then encourage you to take this one step further by writing an empowering statement for yourself, such as: “I am positively empowered and successful in all my endeavors.” You can use this as a jumping-off point to see what aspects of your life are no longer aligned with that true statement.

I’m sure this practice is not too big of a stretch for you, and you might already be doing something like it, but if not I encourage you to give it a try today.

Meditation

If you’re new to meditation, keep it simple. I prefer visualization. Close your eyes and visualize a bright golden sun burning all around you. That bright golden sun is your soul burning with desires that live within you. Tune into the golden sun. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you feel?

When you are ready, open your eyes and write about your experience. It could be short and sweet, “I know that it is time to move on.” or “I feel scared.” Keep going back daily and soon you will see yourself growing more and more confident in taking that next step.

I know from experience that the journey you are on right now is a raw, wild and beautiful path. And although there are times of worry, struggle and loss, there is also something greater waiting for you down this yellow brick road. So, I inspire you to go within, say yes to the opportunities that light you up and take it step by step.

There are so many practices that help us to “go inward” and now, more than ever, is the time to work these practices into our lives. And I’m curious to hear what is your favorite “Inward” practice?
