It’s official, 2020 is well behind us now, and although the world is taking in a big sigh of relief, I want you to take a moment to think about what you learned from last year. I’m a big believer that everything happens for a reason, and as we head into this new year full of new opportunities, I believe there was a divine reason why the world had to reset.

A New Lens For 2021

Perhaps you or someone you love lost their job. Maybe they were very ill or you were personally affected by COVID. Although I don’t wish that on anyone, I believe there is greater meaning behind what happened in 2020—not just COVID, but also the civil unrest and the division of our country. As we step into a new year, I want you to think for a minute…what were some of the lessons you learned last year? What can you bring into this year with a new lens…a new perspective about what’s possible and what’s not possible?

Despite the pain and heartache that often characterized 2020, there was also light, love, and opportunity. Instead of looking back and thinking “Thank God, it’s behind me,” think about what you can take from last year into this year that will create a new level of resilience in you. What can you build on that will create opportunities in your life and in your business?

You Have What It Takes to Reach Your Dreams

You absolutely and without a doubt, have what it takes to reach your dreams and build a life and business that you love! This brings me to two of the four D’s I turn to when I’m thinking about what I want next, whether personally or professionally. They are Decide and Develop

I’ve interviewed wildly successful millionaires and billionaires, and there is within each and every single one of them, a level of resilience and tenacity that is unlike anything else. You have to have a powerful vision and mission that drives you forward day after day…after day. Now is the time to think about what you want next. Think about it, step into it, and commit to it.

Impatience is what prevents us from getting what we want, especially in our instant gratification culture. We want things faster and easier. But think about it for a moment…would you appreciate anything that came quickly or easily? For example, all the adversity and challenges I faced while working toward anything I’ve ever wanted, have not only made me who I am today but also so grateful for this last year. I am blessed with a beautiful home and an amazing family. I have a business that truly brings me joy. I have an incredible team. Did that happen overnight? No. I lost a business in the last recession and started completely over in my 30s.

I know what dedication to your vision truly does in your life. But you have to take the next step. The yellow brick road will come to meet you where you are as soon as you take the first step. At the same time, you have to be dedicated to walking the path when it shows up—no matter what happens along the way. How dedicated are you to pursuing and achieving what you want? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to get there? Because the first step won’t matter if you don’t take the next step…and the next step. Success doesn’t happen from taking just one action alone. It’s about the many consistent actions that equal the result.

So I ask you, who do you need to become to make your vision a reality?

  • Who do you need to become as a leader, CEO, spokesperson, and/or influencer?
  • What books do you need to read?
  • What wounds do you need to heal?
  • Who do you need to forgive?
  • Who do you need to surround yourself with?

Because after you decide what you want and what actions to take, you need to develop and work on yourself and your business to get there. It’s about doing your genius work in this world—something that ignites a fire within you, something that gets you up when there’s a global pandemic—and taking those next steps. The greater contribution, the greater income we create. That’s full reciprocity: you get what you give. And I believe that’s what Inspired Living is all about.

What you think about, you bring about. If you think you can’t, you won’t. If you think you can, you will. Where are you right now? What story are you telling yourself? What are you truly believing that is possible? Do your words and your thoughts line up? For example, you might say, “I want a six-figure business,” but deep down, you don’t feel you can create one or that you’re worthy of money. As you head into 2021, I ask you to decide, dedicate, develop, deliver and get ready because this year is going to be an amazing one because you said so.

A New Lens Episode Show Notes

02:14—We will never abandon the virtual community that we’ve built as the world opens up and we do live events again. We have 2021 all mapped out, but we’re also adaptable. You have to be willing to adapt and be agile.

03:44—There are four D’s I look at when I’m thinking about what I want next, whether personally or professionally. The first is to Decide. A confused conscious can never do. For example, it’s not enough to decide that you want a lot of money. You have to be specific. Maybe you want to make $10K/month—that’s specific. It’s not enough to simply want to lose weight. Maybe you want to lose 10 pounds, eat clean, and get healthy. Your brain thinks in pictures. So I want you to picture what your life will look like in 2021—exactly. Then write it down and say it out loud to yourself every single day.

10:04—I believe we all have what it takes to make our dreams come true, or else we wouldn’t have them. I don’t think it’s an accident that we have big visions and a burning desire to accomplish them when our dreams are rooted in more than money. If we’re just chasing money, it will always elude us. It’s the energy in which we’re going after— whatever it is. But when we’re chasing a dream of meaning, the money will come.

So go after your dreams, be excited about your vision, figure out who you need to become to make it happen, and take the first step. Deliver what you need to put out into the world—whether it’s a webinar, training, or valuable piece of content. Because the more impact we make in the world, the more blessed we are as individuals.

15:42—What you think about, you bring about. If you think you can’t, you won’t. If you think you can, you will. So what story are you telling yourself? What do you believe is possible? Do your words and your thoughts align?

What is inspiring you this year to forge ahead and create the life and business you love? We can’t wait to hear all about it in the comments!
