The voice that says things like…

“I’ll never look like that on camera.”
“She’s so pretty.”
“She’s so successful, what’s wrong with me?”

We’ve ALL heard this voice once or twice but as an entrepreneur with a powerful message, you MUST put that self-doubt and comparison critic aside.

Those thoughts don’t serve you and even more importantly, it’s possible to admire what someone else has achieved without doubting your own self worth. No one can deliver or say your message the way YOU can.

Using video to grow your business is incredibly powerful, it lets people see who you are and what’s possible for themselves. There’s a reason that after watching interviews and movies you feel like you “know” that person. Video creates a sense of intimacy you can’t get anywhere else. How powerful would it be if you were that “celebrity” within your niche that fans got to know?

Apparently, 1.8 million words is the value of one minute of video, according to Dr. James McQuivey of Forrester Research. Do you have the time and energy to write 1.8 million words? I sure don’t! That’s the equivalent of 3,600 typical web pages. If you write an average of one web page an hour, it would take you 150 days of writing to achieve the impact of one minute of video.

Shocking right?! 😳

With everything going on in the world, you have a chance to inspire others. You can sit back in self-doubt or claim your unique genius. Your message needs to be shared and heard now more than ever!

Step one to getting on-camera is to stop doubting yourself.
Step two is actually doing it.

Which is why I created this checklist of what you need to be ready to hit record.

My team and I have done the research for you and have found the best products to get your message out there with striking quality.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ layout=”1_1″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=”” min_height=””][fusion_checklist icon=”fa-check” iconcolor=”” circle=”” circlecolor=”” size=”18px” class=”” id=””][fusion_li_item icon=””]No matter what, you need the basics… a camera. If you have an iPhone or most any smartphone then you have no excuses. If you want to really up your game we recommend the Canon Camera. [/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=””]Your true nature is luminous and in order to let the world see you, there must be light.

We recommend a three point lighting set up (and teach you how to set up your home studio in IL Academy) 2 lights pointing on your face and one behind you. LED lights give the best lumination, we recommend these with an easy light stand so you can easily transport them.

No lights? No problem – look for natural light, you can even go outside to record your next video.[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=””]Testing 1, 2, 3 – can anyone hear me? Video with bad audio is the worst.
Why make your followers work hard to hear you? Please, make sure you have some sort of external sound.

I recommend a lavalier microphone and plug it into your smart phone – I use it during many of the videos you’ll see of me on Facebook. It’s great for recording Facebook Lives or if you are on the go.
[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=””]Use a steady hand or a tripod. Unless you are doing a walk and talk video then you are going to want to make sure your camera isn’t moving all over the place we recommend propping your camera up or grabbing a tripod, like this one.[/fusion_li_item][fusion_li_item icon=””]Last but not least – purpose. Always record a video not just because you have something to say, but because there’s something your audience wants and needs to hear. Get in touch with the feeling you want them to have and what action you want them to take. This will help your authentic personality shine through.[/fusion_li_item][/fusion_checklist][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ layout=”1_1″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” hover_type=”none” link=”” border_position=”all” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=”” class=”” id=”” min_height=””][fusion_text]In an upcoming blog post I’ll be sharing how to create a video blog but until then you can learn how to get off script, let go of perfectionism, and crush your comparison critic in our mini course, “How to Be Confident on Camera”.
