It brings me so much joy to sit down with such amazing people and through their stories encourage and inspire you to live the life you were meant to live.
In this video I had the pleasure of chatting with Mark Steines; journalist, TV-host, actor, photographer and devoted dad. Coming from a small town in Iowa, he quickly became one of the most trusted and charismatic figures in Hollywood entertainment news. Earning himself three Emmys, he’s interviewed hundreds of A-list actors, producers, musicians and athletes during his time on Entertainment Tonight. Currently you can find him on the Hallmark Channel hosting “Home & Family.”
There is a lot to take away from Mark’s story, and so much you can do for yourself to achieve your goals and step through your own “black door.” First, never let your fear get in the way of your growth, use it as a motivator to take your business or yourself to the next level. You never know what other doors will open for you once you’ve taken that leap and entered into a somewhat unfamiliar place.
Once you’ve decided to play bigger and allow yourself to be seen and heard on a larger scale, keep learning. Have an interest in learning more and a continuous desire to grow. Stay curious about everything and always start with the person that you are serving. Ask yourself, “what does the audience want,  how do we serve them and why are they showing up?”
Always take advantage of every experience you have. So often we take for granted the opportunities given to us to grow and expand, thinking we’ll get more of them. You never know what may happen, so soak in every chance you get to learn and network with others who can help you grow. Networking is a huge factor in the growth of your business.
Most importantly, you need to be sure to have balance in your life! Having balance between personal and professional life is the key to continued to success. In any aspect of your life BE PRESENT. Work hard to show that you want to be where you are, and that you care about everything you do.
I would love to know your take-a-way from this interview. What “black door” are you waiting to walk through? Your comment matters…when you’re inspired you inspire others!

Love Mark but could not hear him talking !!!
I love Mark Steines’s belief and idea of depositing into oneself first. It is so true. If we don’t take care of ourselves, how can we expect to care for others well enough? Wonderful interview! My husband and I enjoy watching Home & Family each morning. Mark, Cristina and the whole crew are amazing!
The Mark is funny and he and Christina compleat each other I love the show I find my self smiling a lot during the show,
I love how he loves his boys
Love Mark he is good at everything . Love him on Home and Family but could not see him on the interview
First of all, I love Home and Family. Great interview guys. Mark you have made me start thinking about situations I’m in right now. Thank you Mark for the advice. Believe it or not, you have inspired me to want to face my fears. Thanks again. 🙂
Wonderful interview w/Mark Steine’s. Truly enjoyed this and his entire outlook on life. He’s such an inspiration to others out there. God Bless him and his family. 🙂
This is amazing! I enjoy watching Mark and Christina whenever I can! Of course I’m from Iowa so I knew Mark would be amazing! I love watching everyone on the show!
After watching this interview, I have come away with a deeper understanding of who Mark Steines is. We see a side of Mark on the show Home and Family every day, but here we are privileged to see a more intimate and vulnerable side of him. I enjoyed watching this and will continue to watch Mark and the rest of the Family on Home & Family!
Great interview and a great man. A man of faith and family is not a common ideal anymore. I love home and family and have learned allot. These are such a great group of people. Thank you for your positive out look Mark. You are so wise and it’s easy to see how much you love your boys. Truly an inspiration.
I happened to have just run across this interview. I really enjoy Home and Family and when Mark was talking aobut his interviewing style, i think what I notice about him is that he actually listens to the person(s) he is interviewing and interacts with them. Often times people ask a aquestion and then go to the next question and don’t really react to the first asnwer.
Side note, I live about 40 minutes from Dubuque and chuckle when he mentions coming from a small town. The population of the town I’m from in Wisconsin is 400 and we go to DBQ to shop because of the large stores!
