Are You Feeling Lucky?

NL March 17

We have all heard the quote by Lucius Seneca in which Oprah made quite famous:  “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”

I am a firm believer in this quote. I have never categorized myself as being “lucky”. Sure, I have been blessed with amazing opportunities. However, these opportunities did not just fall into my lap without me being prepared. In fact, every single thing that has happened in our lives’, has prepared us for what is to come.

Just recently, a small incident happened where I was reminded that the successful business I continue to grow today did not just “happen”. Back in 2008, I had to close the doors on a business I had built and loved, and filed bankruptcy. It was one of the darkest times in my life. I was so broken and I felt so alone.  At the time, I did not know this devastating loss (along with others) was merely preparing me for something even bigger and better.

I have learned, that being prepared for opportunity is the key to being successful, not luck. In this video I share with you 3 things on how to prepare for unexpected opportunities.

Watch the video below

  1. Be curious-Curiosity makes you eager to know and learn more about what’s out there in the world. Whether you are the expert in your field or simply trying to find your passion, there is always room to learn something new and different.
  2. Get out of your comfort zone– You will never be presented new opportunities if you don’t make yourself available to meeting new people and doing new things. The most unexpected connections can position yourself into something even greater than you imagined.
  3. Stay Positive– I say this a lot. But it is so true. You cannot be open for new opportunities if you are focusing on your setbacks. Setbacks are stepping stones to something even bigger and better. A positive outlook on life will attract positive outcomes.

Questions for you:
Do you believe in luck or do you believe everything has happened in your life to prepare you for what is to come?
How do you prepare for unexpected opportunities?
