What’s Your Story?

“If we can paint a vivid enough picture in our mind and we connect it with intense emotion it becomes REALITY.”

Have you ever told yourself the same story of defeat over and over again? The story of why you can’t make more money, find the right partner, travel the globe or start your own business?

Did you know that according to research we have 50,000 thoughts a day? (who knew?!) And of those 50,000 thoughts, many of them are repetitive, negative thoughts telling us the story of why we can’t succeed, what we don’t like about ourselves, or how we could have done something different.

It’s those thoughts that keep so many of us in a stagnant state of mediocrity, or worse, depression or poverty.

Each conversation that you have with yourself reinforces in your mind who you are and what you are capable of and, most critically, builds or demolishes your self-esteem and self-worth.

Often times our reality is simply our thoughts played out in real life. Our subconscious mind controls 90% of our actions. If we can paint a vivid enough picture in our mind and we connect it with intense emotion it becomes REALITY.

I have seen this time and time again with my clients and in my own life and I am sure you can see where is shows up in yours.

So how do you control these thoughts and create a reality you love?

The first step is to create a Positive Picture!

All the great Inspirational leaders started out with a vision. Great leaders know how to harness the power of visualization, to picture the future just as they wish it to be while convincing others that by working together they can bring that vision to reality.  I am a big fan of creating a vision board or journal to really connect with a visual picture of what you want to create.

2. Self Awareness

Recognize when your negative story starts to replay and choose to focus on something positive. You may find it helpful to write out positive affirmations, what you like about yourself or reconnect with your positive vision.

3. Change how you view the world- Optimistically vs. Pessimistically

It’s a fact; people who have an optimistic view of the world out perform pessimists in every area. How we view the world is often a learned behavior based on our beliefs and past experiences, and since it is learned it can be changed.

I found a great site that talks more about this and provides some excellent resources, http://www.leadership-and-motivation-training.com/optimism-vs-pessimism.html

When you change your thoughts you can literally create the world of your dreams.

Dream it. Live it. BE it!
