Do You Play Like a Girl?

Remember growing up on the school playground? If you were anything like me as a little girl, I was a little nervous when it came to playing with the boys simply because of the “like a girl” label. It always seemed like such an embarrassing accusation! Even now I can’t pinpoint exactly what it was that propelled me to feel that way. It just seemed like a normal thing that every other girl dealt with as well.

While it is true we do not live in a society where our worth is measured by the way we run, throw, kick, or punch, it doesn’t stop a lot of girls from losing confidence in their abilities.

Why isn’t it a compliment to be told we do things “like a girl”? We can be whoever we want to be, think how we want to think, doing what we want to do – like a girl. We are all human, and regardless of the stereotypes we face in the world today, we should all encourage each other to be ourselves and do everything in a way we see fit without worrying about the judgment of those who consider doing things “like a girl” to be a bad thing.

Guess what, I do just about everything I do like a girl, and I’m proud of it!

I would love to hear from you…what do you think of this ad? How does the term “like a girl” make you feel?

Please comment and share this video with others – let’s be proud to live “like a girl.”
