Did you know that the average person has over 30,000 thoughts a day?
Did you know that 87%- 95% of illnesses that plague today’s society are a direct result of our thought life?
There is a new health epidemic on the rise and you could be creating it in your own body.
Toxic thoughts and emotions: the breeding ground for illness.
Life is not always easy; we are constantly faced with challenges, but why make it harder on ourselves. Unfortunately, we have not been blessed with the power to control everything that happens around us, but we do have the ability to control our reactions and thoughts pertaining to each challenge or situation we face.
Think back for a moment…
How many times in your day do you think about the past? Are the words “if only” a large part of your inner monologue?
Does speculation lead to you taking less action in your life?
Are you constantly creating scenarios for an unpredictable future?
How many times have you used the three phrases “could-have”, “should-have”, and “would-have” today?
Do you identify yourself by a disease? “My arthritis”, “my heart problem”, “my diabetes”
Dr. Caroline Leaf, author of Who Switched off My Brain?: Controlling Toxic Thoughts and Emotions, offers these few questions to ask yourself among others to determine whether or not it is time to detox your brain. If you found yourself answering yes to even just one of those questions then maybe it is time to start changing your thought process.
The next time a relationship or friendship fails, instead of thinking “Well there must be something wrong with me.” Think about what you can take from that relationship and apply it to the next one. Dwelling on the negative emotions surrounding that heartache will only drag you further down. Forgive and let go!
The next time you feel that you are going through the motions of your day and your life, STOP YOURSELF. Take the next step towards success and living the life you truly hope for instead of living in doubt and fear.
The next time you are daydreaming of the past, wishing for things that have come and gone, snap yourself into the present. Life is happening here and now, Whether the past is positive or negative, living there will do nothing for your life today!
Leaf said,” A thought may seem harmless, but if it becomes toxic, even just a thought can become physically, emotionally, or spiritually dangerous. Thoughts are measurable and occupy mental “real estate.” Thoughts are active; they grow and change. Thoughts influence every decision, word, action, and physical reaction we make. Every time you have a thought, it is actively changing your brain and your body – for better or for worse.”
Toxic thoughts and emotions have been proven by both the scientific and medical community (neuro-scientists and neuro-researchers) to have all the wrong chemicals and cause a toxic reaction in the body.
If you look at an image of the brain with toxic memories, the branches are black! (And WE do that to ourselves!) Leaf said and research shows that “fear, all on its own, triggers more than 1,400 known physical and chemical responses and activates more than 30 different hormones.” This proves that there are medical and emotional reasons to forgive and let go. Toxic waste generated by toxic thoughts can cause diabetes, cancer, asthma, skin problems and allergies to name a few.
Positive thoughts on the other hand, release chemicals that can actually combat the toxic ones. Traveling down the negative thought line, helping to dissolve and change the structure of that memory to enable you to grow a new good memory over it! WE HAVE THE POWER TO RENEW OUR OWN BRAIN! Isn’t that amazing?
So what are you waiting for? Start detoxing now.
