You Can’t Have Trust Without This

Before you trust, you have to listen…

Trust: Firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.

Again, this is another message inspired by my latest church visit, but as I thought about this it really hit home with me. It applies to so many different areas in life…our relationships, our faith, ourselves. We all want to trust, to have the firm belief in someone or something, but in order to do that we must listen!

How many times have you gone against that voice in your head that is quietly whispering to you? Or perhaps you have a relationship that is in turmoil and wonder why? It is easy for us to talk, worry, or pretend as if we are listening. But truly listening takes time and connection. Sometimes we have to be still and quiet our minds in order to hear what our spirit is guiding us to do. When we listen, we can trust the path. We don’t wonder if we are doing the “right thing,” we trust that we are.

When we really listen, we build an unshakable trust in people and in ourselves. When we are connected and fully present, we feel a sense of security and balance. Next time you are searching for the next step in your life or are trying to build a relationship, make sure to truly listen. Whether it’s following to your intuition or giving your full attention to another person, listening is the foundation of trust for both your life and relationships with others.
