It is no surprise, that we all go through good and bad days. As much as we are doing the “right” things, we all run into stumbling blocks. For me, I have to make a continuous effort to work through challenges and remind myself it is a bad day, not a bad life. There is ALWAYS something to smile about.

But if you are finding that SOMETHING keeps stealing your joy, have you taken some time to try and figure out what that is? Are you trying to get ahead, make a change, live a positive life, but in spite of your efforts, you are still unhappy?

In this video I share with you 4 things that may be stealing your joy.

1. Fear Of Missing Out (F.O.M.O)– Social Media has been a blessing and a curse for so many of us. It is a great way to stay connected with old and new “friends” but it has also activated an anxiety based behavior within many of us that has our imagination running wild at how happy and better off someone else is than us. If you are finding yourself feeling jealous or behind in life based upon what you see within social media, turn your attention on your own life and fill that void from within. Stop focusing on someone else’s story and write your own.

2. Only working to pay the bills– Most of your time is spent working. Whether you go to a 9-5 job, are an entrepreneur or a stay at home mom, you must enjoy what you are doing. Your work needs to be more than just a paycheck. Happiness cannot be compartmentalized. Your personal and professional life should mirror each other. If you don’t enjoy the work that you do, you will find yourself wishing you were someone else, doing something else.

3. Waiting for the perfect time– There is no such thing as a perfect time, a perfect moment or a perfect opportunity. Perspective plays a significant role on your life. To truly embrace life and live to your greatest potential, you have to be open to looking past imperfect moments and keep moving forward. The greatest gifts we receive usually come at the most unsuspecting times.

4. Attempting to make a big impact at once– It is easy to get discouraged when you are attempting to make a difference in this world and you aren’t seeing much of a change. All great things take time. For example, if you are an entrepreneur, don’t get discouraged if your business isn’t taking off as quickly as you would like it to. Rather than attempting to make a big difference in the world, start with the world around you. Focusing on your ideal client will help your business grow.

Should any of these resonate with you, and you want to help shift your mindset so you may grow to live a happier life, I challenge you to change your daily routine:

  • Before you start your morning, wake up and read or watch something that inspires you.
  • During the day, pay attention and enjoy your life as it happens.
  • Lastly, before bed, spend 10 minutes to reflect upon what went well.

This beautiful life is about YOU. Good and bad things may come your way, but it is how you react to them, that will illustrate the outcome.
